How Simjot collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

Last updated: 21 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Simjot (“Simjot”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal data. Simjot is a chat, community, and support product operated by Gillside Solutions, 7 Temasek Boulevard #12-07 Suntec Tower One, Singapore 038987. It applies to the Simjot website (simjot.com), the Simjot web application, and related services (together, the “Service”).

If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, contact us at support@gillside.com.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account details — your account handle (username), email address, and, where you choose to provide it, an optional mobile phone number.
  • Age information — your date of birth or age band, which we use to age-gate the Service and apply protections for younger users.
  • Profile information — any display name, profile picture, or other details you add to your profile.
  • Messages and content — the messages, posts, attachments, and other content you create or share through the Service.
  • Technical and usage data — information generated when you use the Service, such as session tokens, device and browser information, IP address, and basic activity needed to keep the Service running and secure.

2. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • operate, maintain, and provide the chat, community, and support features of the Service;
  • verify your mobile phone number (where you provide one) and help confirm identity and reduce abuse;
  • apply age-appropriate settings and safety protections;
  • communicate with you about your account, including service-related notices and verification messages;
  • keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with our legal obligations.

3. Mobile number verification via WhatsApp

If you choose to add a mobile phone number, we may verify it by sending a one-time verification message to that number over WhatsApp, which is provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”). To do this, your phone number and the verification message are processed through Meta’s WhatsApp Business messaging service. Meta processes this data as described in its own privacy terms. We use this only to confirm you control the number you provided; providing a mobile number is optional.

4. Google sign-in (OAuth)

You may sign in to Simjot using your Google account through Google’s OAuth service. When you do, Google shares a limited set of profile information with us (such as your name and email address) so we can create or access your Simjot account. We do not receive your Google password. Google’s handling of your data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.

5. Hosting, cookies, and session tokens

The Service is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the European Union region (eu-central-1, Frankfurt, Germany), and we use Cloudflare for content delivery, DNS, and security at the network edge.

We use cookies and similar technologies, including session tokens, to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and keep the Service secure. These are necessary for the Service to function. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

6. Content moderation and safety

To keep the Service safe, your messages and other content are processed for safety and moderation purposes. When you submit a message, it is automatically screened at the time you post it against a maintained list of disallowed terms and patterns (for example profanity, abusive or threatening language, and content that could endanger a minor), together with basic abuse and spam checks. Content that is detected this way may be blocked before it is sent, flagged, or removed.

We process the content of your messages for this purpose because it is necessary to operate the Service safely, prevent abuse, and protect our users — in particular younger users. Where the Service blocks a message, a limited record of the moderation event (such as the category of the violation and, for audit purposes, a short sample of the blocked text) may be retained so we can enforce our rules and improve safety. Repeated or serious violations can lead to demerit points and the suspension or removal of a handle or account, as described in our Terms of Service. The most serious safety violations (such as content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor) result in an immediate ban and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

7. Minors

Simjot applies age-gating. The Service is not directed to young children, and some features and communities are restricted based on age. We ask for your date of birth or age band so we can apply these restrictions.

Where younger users are permitted to use the Service, additional protections apply, and we expect a parent or legal guardian to be involved in and consent to a minor’s use of the Service. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, contact us at support@gillside.com and we will take appropriate steps.

8. Third parties we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Google — sign-in (OAuth) where you choose to use it.
  • Meta / WhatsApp — mobile number verification messages where you provide a number.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosting and infrastructure (EU region, eu-central-1).
  • Cloudflare — content delivery, DNS, and edge security.
  • SendGrid and Amazon SES — sending transactional and verification emails.

These providers act on our behalf and are permitted to use the data only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.

9. Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it to provide the Service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to any retention required by law.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights, or ask any question about your data, by contacting us at support@gillside.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and isolation between tenants and environments. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.

12. International transfers

Simjot is operated from Singapore, and the Service is hosted in the European Union (AWS eu-central-1). Some of our service providers (such as Google, Meta, Cloudflare, SendGrid, and AWS) may process data in other countries. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it consistent with applicable data protection laws.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.

14. Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
